The world is facing the largest migrant crisis since the end of the Second World War, as millions of people flee violence in war-torn Syria. Seven million Syrians have been displaced and another 4 million have fled the country ravaged by the ongoing civil war and the rise of Islamic State. As Europe struggles to deal with the flood of desperate asylum seekers arriving on its shores, it was revealed on Wednesday that Australia would permanently resettle 12,000 refugees from Syria.
